Leveraging the nexus between trade, investment, governance & responsible business conduct for decent work
As global trade and investment landscapes evolve, the importance of responsible business conduct has never been more critical. With growing expectations around due diligence, access to remedy requirements, and the protection of workers' rights, businesses, governments, and social partners must work together to drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth. The Roundtable on Leveraging the Nexus Between Trade, Investment, Governance, and Responsible Business Conduct for Decent Work organized by the International Labour Organization in partnership with BIDA aims to address these pressing challenges at the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025.
This roundtable will explore strategies to ensure that trade and investment contribute positively to decent work, while also enhancing the business environment in a responsible and ethical manner. Key discussions will focus on promoting policy coherence at national and multilateral levels, strengthening international trade with the adoption of sound industrial and employment policies, and achieving just transitions in supply chain development.
The session will also shed light on how Bangladesh can build its capacity to accommodate modern manufacturing sectors through skills development and innovation. Furthermore, international cooperation and technical assistance will be explored as crucial elements to support the country's adaptation to emerging regulatory demands.
Join us as we bring together key stakeholders from across the trade, investment, and governance sectors to discuss the path towards building a more sustainable and inclusive economy that works for all.
